Bellweather
From Abracaslop, the fictional encyclopedia
A lakeside neighborhood with very specific weather and no real address.
Bellweather is an invented neighborhood beside a lake whose shape changes slightly between tourist brochures. The residents blame graphic design. Mara considers this unfair but plausible.
The café, print shop, apartment and tram shelter recur in the story. None is a real venue, invitation or location clue. There are no coordinates to find.
The neighborhood has one superstition: never say a meeting will take “no time at all.” That is how the Department acquires conference rooms.
The local paper prints a corrections column called Further Complications. It has never run out of material.
